The story
In 2014, ten months into a driving job that kept shorting her pay, Jackie Lawrence picked up a family of three at RIU Negril and pointed the van toward the airport. She got to talking about her island the way she always does, and by the time they reached departures the father, Dan, told her something that changed her mind about leaving tourism: in ten years of yearly trips to Jamaica he had never once left the hotel compound, and had never learned this much about the place. A number-one contributor on TripAdvisor, he posted her name, email and phone number to the platform. That one review became the whole business. Today Jackie runs Jackie's Jamaican Transfers and Tours out of Sandy Bay in Hanover, licensed by the Jamaica Tourist Board and the Transport Authority of Jamaica. Every transfer and tour is private and built around the people in the van, whether that is an airport run from Sangster or a full day across the island.
